Who: All incoming international students
When: Summer Start - As soon as possible
            Fall - As soon as possible, but no later than June 1, 2011
How: Complete and submit the online AFCOE form 


In order for NYU's Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) to mail you an I-20 so that you may secure your student visa, you must submit the AFCOE form. Once you submit the AFCOE form, you should receive your I-20 from OISS via mail within one month. You will then need to follow the visa application instructions for your country of citizenship. 

Summer Start students must submit the AFCOE form as soon as possible to allow enough time for processing and completing the student visa interview. For all other students, if you submit an AFCOE later than June 1, 2011, you may not be able to complete the visa process in order to arrive in the United States in time for the Fall 2011 semester. 

To complete the AFCOE form, please do the following:

  1. View the multimedia tutorial for new international students. It contains detailed information about getting your student visa and moving to New York. Go to the OISS website and click "Launch" on the right side of the page.
  2. Get your NYU NetID. Your NYU Net ID will only be needed to allow you to access the AFCOE form. To learn your NYU Net ID, please click the following link. Please note: Your NYU Net ID will be available one week after your date of admission. To get your Net ID, you will be asked to enter:
    • Your NYU University ID number (Example: NXXXXXXXX. This can be found in your letter of admission.)
    • Your date of birth as month/day/year (Example: 11/30/1981 for November 30, 1981)
    • When you have completed the process and obtained your NYU Net ID, please go to step 3.
  3. Login to the OISS website for AFCOE instructions and to download the AFCOE form. Please visit http://www.nyu.edu/oiss/afcoe/ and click on Leonard N. Stern School of Business (Graduate). You will be prompted to enter your user name (your NYU Net ID) and the password you created for your Net ID. Please review the form instructions on the page before downloading and completing the form.
