What is a NetID?

NetIDs are unique student identifiers. They are created by Stern IT from a list of deposited students. Your NetID gives you access to password-protected websites such as email and Sternlinks.

When will I receive my NetID?

It takes at least a week after Admissions receives your deposit to create a NetID. Once it has been created, you may retrieve and activate your NetID on the Langone MBA Admitted Students Website.

How do I register for online Business Writing?

If you received below a 4.0 on the AWA portion of the GMAT or the Analytical Writing Section of the GRE, you will receive a letter from Academic Affairs and Advising and will be automatically registered for Business Writing by the Office of Records & Registration.

May I take more than 6 credits in my first term?

If you were admitted into the Accelerated Two-Year program, you will be able to register for 9.0 credits during your first semester.

If you were admitted into the regular Langone Weeknight or Saturday program, you may be permitted to take more than 6 credits in your first semester on a space available basis. If approved, you would take another Stern Core course (COR-1.GB2311: Foundations of Finance, COR1-GB.2310: Marketing, COR1-GB.2303: The Global Economy, or COR1-GB.2314: Operations Management) in addition to your Basic Core.

May I take only 3 credits in my first semester?

If you wish to take only 3.0 credits during your first semester in the Langone program, you must receive approval from Academic Affairs and Advising. Please reach out to their office to discuss your first semester course schedule further. 

If I only register for 3 credits in my first semester, what course should I take?

You must take COR1-GB.1302: Leadership in Organizations in your first semester. This is the "anchor" Core course, which establishes and forms your actual Core Group. Statistics & Data Analysis, Financial Accounting & Reporting, and Firms & Markets are the "companion" Core to the anchor. If you plan to establish proficiency in Leadership in Organizations, please reach out to Academic Affairs and Advising to discuss your options.

May I take my first two classes on Saturday?

If you were admitted to the Saturday program, you will take courses on Saturday. If you were admitted to the Weeknight or Westchester Program, you will not be able to take Saturday ccourses during the first two terms in the program. After the first two semesters in your program, you can petition to switch program status to weekends, or add a weekend class during the drop/add period (after Weekend Only students have had their pick of the weekend offerings.)

May I switch Core Groups? I didn't get my first choice.

The Office of Records & Registration will place you into a Core Group according to your registration rankings. Once assigned, you may not change Core Groups.

May I send in my deposit check with my registration materials?

The deposit check should be sent directly to the Admissions Office with the Enrollment Reply Form. The balance of the tuition due should be sent to the Office of Records & Registration separately.

When do I receive a copy of my course schedule?

You can view your schedule online via the Langone MBA Admitted Students Website. If you would like a paper copy, the Stern Bursar's Office can provide a receipt of payment upon request which indicates your courses for the semester. This is available only after the designated registration date.

What should I do if I wish to establish proficiency in one of the four Basic Core (Leadership in Organizations, Firms & Markets, Financial Accounting & Reporting, Statistics & Data Analysis)?

You may request to establish Core course proficiency with your previous coursework or degree through the Core Course Proficiency site. If you intend to establish proficiency in one of the Basic Core, you will need to indicate this on the online course registration form.

Who can assist me with my financial aid questions?

Where can I find more information regarding Stern's computer facilities (i.e. laptop configuration)?

The Stern Help Desk, or Stern IT. You should also watch the Stern IT video on NYU Classes, available prior to Langone Lab.

Do Stern students receive discounts on computers or electronics?

The NYU Computer Store offers student discounts and financing on computers and electronics.

Is NYU Housing available to Langone students?

You should contact the Office of Student Engagement if you are interested in on-campus housing.

When and where can I purchase my textbooks?

You can buy your books and course materials at the NYU Professional Bookstore, online or in person.

What should I do if any of my biographical information has changed since I was first admitted (i.e. name, company, etc.)?

If you want to change biographical information prior to Langone Lab or the start of classes, you should contact the Office of Student Engagement.

After classes start, you can change this information through "Update Bio Information" on "Sternlinks".
