Program Requirements

The Stern School Marketing Major is a 16-credit program consisting of three required courses: Introduction to Marketing, Consumer Behavior, and Marketing Research, and six credits of electives chosen from sixteen dynamic classes.

Students generally begin their Marketing Major by taking Introduction to Marketing as early as the fall of their sophomore year and Consumer Behavior and Marketing Research the following spring or junior year. The remaining marketing electives are completed during a student's junior and senior years.

Stern Requirement

Introduction to Marketing - MKTG-UB.0001 - 4 credits

Prerequisites:
  • Microeconomics - ECON-UB 1 – 4 credits
  • Organizational Communications - SOIM-UB 65 – 4 credits
  • Principles of Financial Accounting - ACCT-UB.0001 – 4 credits
  • Sophomore Status

Marketing Major Requirements

  • Marketing Research - MKTG-UB.0009 - 3 credits
  • Consumer Behavior - MKTG-UB.0002  - 3 credits

Marketing Major Electives

6 credits total: any combination of 3 credit and/or 2 credit courses.
