The NYU Stern Department of Information, Operations and Management Sciences is home to talented PhD students in three different programs:
PhD in Information Systems
Mission: To educate and train scholars who will produce first-rate IS research and who will succeed as faculty members in first-rate universities. We offer tracks in technical perspectives on IS, economic perspectives on IS, and organizational/management perspectives on IS.
PhD in Operations Management
To educate and train scholars who will produce first-rate OM research and who will succeed as faculty members in first-rate universities. Our areas of study include optimization, stochastic modelling, and operations management applications.
PhD in Statistics
Stern’s curriculum in statistics prepares students for academic positions by preparing them to conduct independent research. The statistician must be knowledgeable of the basic issues of the intellectual areas in which his or her work will be applied. The most popular areas of student interest in the last few years have been mathematical finance, statistical modeling, data mining, stochastic processes, and econometrics.
