William T. Allen, Director

William T. Allen serves as the Nusbaum Professor of Law and Business and the Director of the NYU Pollack Center for Law & Business, a joint undertaking of the Stern School and the NYU School of Law. Professor Allen teaches and writes in corporation law, corporate governance and the legal foundations of finance.

Prior to his academic service, Professor Allen served from 1985 to July 1997 as Chancellor of the Court of Chancery of the State of Delaware.  While serving as Chancellor, he taught corporation law and corporate governance as a Visiting Professor at Stanford Law School (1990 & 1994) and the University of Pennsylvania Law School (1992-93 & 1995). In 1996 he served as Rabin Lecturer at Yale Law School. He has written and lectured widely on corporate law and corporate governance.

Professor Allen serves as counsel to the New York law firm of Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz. From 1997 to 2001, he served as founding Chair of the Independence Standards Board, a private sector organization designated in 1997 by the Securities and Exchange Commission with the task of promulgating standards for the determination of auditor independence.

Professor Allen is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a member of the American Law Institute.

Harold Jennings brings more than seven years of administrative experience working at the NYU Stern School of Business.  Previously, he served as Program Coordinator for the Pollack Center for Law & Business and as an Administrative Aide in the Department of Finance.  Mr. Jennings holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill and an AAS in Dental Hygiene from New York University.
