Excerpt from Financial Times -- ""This enthusiasm for fintech has left universities and business schools racing to keep up with the knowledge, skills and competencies required. Some are rolling out specialist fintech degrees. One of the first schools to offer fintech education in 2014, New York University’s Stern School of Business, will run a one-year, part-time Master of Science in Fintech course next May. It aims to cover topics ranging from programming for data to platform strategy, blockchain and cryptocurrencies, machine learning in finance, and leadership in fintech."

Excerpt from Financial Times -- "New York University’s Stern School of Business has offered the Professional Responsibility course since 1994. It used to focus on the regulatory and legal requirements of business but now explores its role in society, too.

"'It is difficult, today, to teach accounting as a technical discipline without exploring the underlying assumptions about what is perceived to be financially material,' says adjunct instructor Alison Taylor, referring to pressure on companies to share non-financial data."

Excerpt from Poets & Quants -- "'A big part of our applications, especially for graduate programs and especially the full-time MBA and master’s programs, are international students: 40% of our applications and about 25% to 30% of our class,' says Sundaram. International students made up 32% of the Stern School’s MBA students in the fall 2021 cohort, up from the previous two intakes."

Students in the inaugural cohorts of the new one-year master’s programs offered jointly by NYU Shanghai and NYU Stern — the MS in Marketing and Retail Science & MS in Organization Management and Strategy programs — attended orientation in person in New York and virtually from Shanghai on June 1 and subsequently started their summer classes with NYU Stern professors.

On Tuesday, May 31, NYU Stern’s Business and Society Program (BSP) hosted the 2022 Ashok C. Sani Distinguished Scholar-In-Residence Lecture, delivered by Rubana Huq, Vice Chancellor of Asian University for Women and Ex-President of BGMEA. This year's talk is entitled, "Empowering Women Garment Workers in Bangladesh: From Rana Plaza to an Entrepreneurial Future."

Excerpt from Poets & Quants -- “The interest is very strong,” says Isser Gallogly, associate dean of MBA admissions and program innovation, at NYU Stern. “Over 25% of all the part-time applicants wanted it as their first choice option. This is the first intake but we have more women applying to it than men. About 51% of our applicants are women.

Excerpt from Town & Country -- “We have found that because our students come in as senior executives with significant work experience (an average of 14 years), and they submit transcripts from undergraduate and graduate programs, along with any certifications they might have earned, we already have enough data points to measure academic preparedness for the program without a standardized test score,” Neha Singhal, assistant dean for executive degree programs, admissions, and marketing at NYU Stern, said in a statement. “In fact, we have found that the data points based on work experience and academic performance are a better indicator of a student's success in the program versus a standardized test score.”

This workshop draws on the best fundamental and applied thinking about the financial architecture drawing on academic and practitioner research and networks. It tries to look over the horizon at what is likely to come next based on the best available thinking.
