Web Based Email FAQs

  1. What are the advantages of using the web browser client?
    Using the new "connect@stern" system will be much easier, improved and feature rich. Again, from any computer connected to the internet with a standard web browser, you can gain access to your email, calendar, and contacts. If you are using Safari browser or have a slow internet connection, use the "basic mode" option located under the login box. Basic mode is HTML only so it reduces the amount of information that needs to be transferred to your computer. The advanced or default web client offers "Mash-up" capability and the power of the internet. For more information see "Mash-up" question. If you prefer not to use Microsoft Outlook or do not have access to it. You can still continue to use your favorite email applications (Thunderbird, Eudora, Apple Mail) and when you need calendar capability just point your browser over to connect@stern.
  2. Does the email search feature on the web client search the attachments along with the content of the email?
    Yes, using connect@stern's web browser client, when you search for content the generated list will have email whose attachment have the search string in it's content.
