How do I activate my email account?
Please visit http://start.stern.nyu.edu to activate your Stern account. You will need your netID and University ID number (from the back of your NYU ID card) and your birthdate in order to activate your account.
[A how-to-guide is available]
How to I change my password?
You can change your password through SIMON. Stern requires that you change your password every 6 months.
[A how-to-guide is available]
What is my mail storage capacity?
Each email account is allocated 1GB of storage for email.
It is important that you are aware of how much space you are using
as exceeding this quota will limit your ability to receive email.
Check your quota in your Connect@stern account or by visiting SIMON.
How can I forward my email to another email account?
You can forward your incoming mail to up-to three different accounts
through SIMON.
How can I setup an auto-response on my email account?
SIMON has a "vacation
message" feature through which you can setup an auto-response
to all incoming email to your account. For more information on how to
use SIMON, please see our How-to Guide.
Can I use my email account to send out bulk mail?
No. Sending email to individuals without their consent (known as "spamming")
is not allowed. Any such activity will lead to immediate account deactivation.
Is there a limit on email attachment sizes and/or types?
Stern has a 30MB limit to email attachments when both sending and receiving. Please check with your recipient to confirm their email system's capacity before sending large attachments. For security reasons, Stern blocks attachments with the following file types on incoming messages: *.ade,*.adp, *.bas, *.bat, *.chm, *.cla, *.class, *.cmd, *.com, *.cpl, *.crt, *.eml, *.email, *.exe, *.hlp, *.hta, *.inf, *.ins, *.js, *.jse, *.lnk, *.msc, *.msi, *.mst, *.ocx, *.pcd, *.pif, *.reg, *.scr, *.sct, *.shb, *.shs, *.url, *.vb, *.vbs, *.vbe, *.wsf, *.wsh, *.wsc, *.???.exe, *.???.lnk, *.???.pif.
