SternOntheMoveSecure Wireless for Vista


Objective: Connect to Stern's secure wireless network, SternOnTheMoveSecure, with a Windows Vista notebook.

NOTICE: This tool is only compatible with Windows Vista 32-bit operating system. If you are using Windows Vista 64-bit, please use the SternOntheMove wireless network instead.

Download SternWifiCfgVista.zip. Note location where you save file.

Right click on the zip file and click Extract All and choose a destination folder.

Install the EAP-GTC software

Open the folder and double click EAP-GTC_Vista_20070803.msi to run the installation. 

Click Next

Accept the terms in the license agreement and then click Next.

Let the InstallShield Wizard install and then this page will pop up:

Click Finish.

 

Click Yes to restart your computer.

 

 

To create a profile for SternOnTheMoveSecure:

 

Run the Wifi Auto-Config Tool (Preferred Method)

 

1.       Double-click WifiCfg_Vista_Add.bat (from the temp folder you created earlier)

2.       To check that the new SternOnTheMoveSecure wireless network profile has been created:

Right click the Network icon on the desktop and click Properties

On the left-hand side bar, click Manage wireless networks and you should see SternOnTheMoveSecure listed

 

 

SternOnTheMoveSecure should be placed above SternOntheMove so that it has higher priority.

 

Configuring PEAP with EAP-GTC on the Windows Vista Client (Alternate Method)

 

 

1.       Right click the Network icon on the desktop and click Properties.

2.       Click Manage wireless networks in the left-hand side bar.

 

3.       Click Add

 

4.       Click Manually create a network profile

 

5.       Enter the following information:

-          Network Name: SternOnTheMoveSecure

-          Security Type: WPA2-Enterprise

-          Encryption Type: AES

-          Click Next

 

6.       Select the Change connection settings option

 

7.       The Wireless Network properties dialog box appears with the Connection tab selection.  Click on the Security tab.

 

 

8.       Select “Protected EAP (PEAP)” from the Choose a network authentication method drop-down menu

9.       Click on Settings to display the Protected EAP Properties dialog box. 

 

 

10.   Check Validate server certificate. 

Check Entrust.net Secure Server Certification Authority.

Select EAP token from the Select Authentication Method drop-down menu. 

Leave all others unchecked and Click OK to close all open dialog boxes

 

After a moment, you should see a bubble display in your system tray area. It says “Additional information is required to connect to SterrnOnTheMoveSecure

 

Click the bubble and a logon box appears.

Enter your Stern username and password and leave Logon domain blank

 

 

If the bubble does not appear, right click on Network icon on the desktop and click Properties

Click Connect to a network on the left-hand side bar

 

 

Select SternOnTheMoveSecure and Click Connect

 

Click Enter/select additional log on information

 

Enter your Stern username and password and leave Logon domain blank
