Mapping your network drives for Mac

If you don't login to the network from a workstation or desktop at Stern, follow the instructions below to get access to your Stern H drive and other shared network drives.

Objective: Access your H drive and other network drives (for Faculty and adminstrators) from your Mac while at Stern (or after having connected to the VPN). If you are accessing from off-campus, connect to the VPN before following the steps below.

1. Open Finder. Click Go, then Connect to Server.

2. You will see a screen like the one below. Depending on who you are and which drive you are attempting to access, you will enter different information in the Server Address: box. See below for specifics. After entering the appropriate information, click on Connect.

3. After clicking Connect, you will see a screen like the one below.

Enter your Stern username in the Name field and your Stern password in the password field and click OK. Your desired drive should open in a new window.

Paths to specifics drives are below with examples of each.

Student H Drive access:

smb://myfiles.stern.nyu.edu/home_stud/<first letter of your username>/<stern username>

example: smb://myfiles.stern.nyu.edu/home_stud/j/jen123

Faculty/Staff/Admininstrators H Drive

smb://myfiles.stern.nyu.edu/home_empl/<first letter of your username>/<stern username>

example: smb://myfiles.stern.nyu.edu/home_empl/j/jdoe

Faculty/Staff/Administrator Shared Drive Access

Employees can access either their Q, P or H drives by entering one of the following in the server address field:

1. Q Drive access: smb://myfiles.stern.nyu.edu/shared_empl/acad
2. P Drive access: smb://myfiles.stern.nyu.edu/shared_empl/admin
