What is WRDS?
WRDS is the Wharton Research Database Service. Stern subscribes to a
number of research databases, including financial and company data,
which are accessible through the WRDS website and the WRDS unix server.
More information can be found on the What is WRDS? Webpage.
How do I login to WRDS?
WRDS is accessible without a user account, just by going to http://wrds.wharton.upenn.edu/connect. The same address, without
"/connect", is the place to apply for an account or login with an account.
An account allows off-campus access, personal workspace, and access
to the WRDS unix server. More information about WRDS accounts can be
found on the What is WRDS? Webpage.
What if I need data for which Stern appears to have no access?
Stern faculty members should send email to research@stern.nyu.edu or call RDS at (212)998-0163 to make sure we do not have access to the
data. From there, they should discuss it among their peers and contact
their department chairs. PhD students should contact their faculty advisors.
What if I need software for which Stern appears to have no license?
Stern faculty should send email to research@stern.nyu.edu or call (212)998-0163 to determine what licenses exist at Stern. The
IT department can assist with price estimates, price quotes, and purchases.
PhD students should contact the Doctoral Office.
