VPN Connection for Windows

Objective: Connect your Windows PC to Stern's network while off campus.

Tip: Follow these instructions as the first step to getting remote access to your H drive and shared drives.

Note: after two hours of inactivity to your mapped drives you will have to follow the steps below to login again.

1. Browse to https://vpn.stern.nyu.edu/. You will see a login screen like the one below:

2. After logging in with your Stern username and password, you may see a security message or Active X install prompt similar to the one of these.

Select “Remember this decision” and click Allow.

Click Install.

3. You should now see the following page:

Click the Start button to continue.

4. The following screen will come up:

Select the checkbox next to “Always trust content from this publisher” and click Run.


5. The following box should appear:

connect

You don’t need to do anything at this point except wait for the box to disappear automatically. Once it does so, without any error messages, you are now connected to Stern’s VPN. You should now see a new icon on the system tray like the one in the red box in the screenshot below:

Once connected to the VPN, you can map your network drives by following the instructions in this guide.
