Delivering Engaging Webinars

This workshop provides recommendations with an overview of webinars for teaching. Webinar is short for a Web-based seminar; a presentation, lecture, workshop, or a meeting conducted over the web. The "audience" views the slides through their web browser and hears the speaker’s commentary over their telephone or via the computer’s speakers. Some webinars offer a video feed of the speaker. Webinars are collaborative and can include polling, question and answer and group sessions.

The Workshop Format:
  • Review of successful webinar examples created at Stern
  • Discussion on effective practices to advertise, schedule, conduct and foster participation during your webinar
  • Offer tips on moderation techniques
  • Quick Review of NYU & Stern supported webinar technology and tools
Workshop Takeaways:
  • Be prepared to plan a webinar for your students or department
  • Understand key principles on effective online presentation and moderation
  • A check list of pre-webinar preparation, webinar activites, and followup strategies
