Lecture Capture
The Stern classrooms are outfitted with Echo360 lecture capture system. Echo 360 captures the video and audio feeds of the classroom lecture as well as the VGA or image feed (often presented through PowerPoint slides) via the classroom projectors. Starting with Summer 2012 session classes, faculty will need to request that their courses be recorded using the CETG Request website. Stern is reverting to our original policy of “opt in” to request classroom recordings. Returning to this policy will allow increased focus on the quality of the recordings that are distributed and viewed. In addition, faculty will need to determine what content gets recorded. By default the audio and images projected to the screen will be recorded. If you want video of your lectures from the classroom video camera that will continue to be an option. If you want the classroom camera video recorded you must select that option when requesting your recordings. We recommend that you use the default camera preset available to faculty in each room. In our enhanced classrooms, the camera view can, however, be adjusted at any time via the Podium interface. Following class completion, video files will be available within 24-48 hours. The volume of requests will in large part dictate how quickly recordings can be processed and delivered. Stern IT will store the raw video file of each class for two weeks. The rich media file, the file sent to faculty or uploaded to Blackboard, will be kept for one year.
