Community Service is an integral part of community life at Stern. Stern's location in New York City enables students and organizations to be creative in their efforts to make the world a better place. Stern offers a number of opportunities for students to give back to their community. Below are just a few examples of the creative approaches that our students have taken.
During the fall, Stern's Student Government (SGov) puts together Stern's Annual Charity Ball, which raises money for a local charity through ticket sales, corporate sponsorship, and a silent auction. The Charity Ball raises $10,000 - 20,000 for a charity organization each year.
Each fall, students in full-time blocks and part-time core groups compete with other blocks and core groups to raise money and food donations for the holidays.
Dress for Success
Stern Women in Business (SWIB) works with NYU Law School students to collect suits and other professional clothing from NYU students. The clothing is then donated to the Dress for Success organization, which provides business attire to low-income women seeking employment.
Stern Charity Poker Event
In February, students compete in a poker tournament for charity. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to a charity of choice.
Washington Square Park Cleanup
During the fall, students, faculty and administrators across NYU unite to clean up Washington Square Park.
