The Role of Student Corporation

Student Corporation (SCorp) is the Stern School’s MBA student government and community service organization. It is also the governing organization for all graduate student clubs & organizations at Stern.

Executive Board of Directors
The purpose of the Executive Board of Directors of SCorp is to represent student interests to administration and faculty of the Stern School as well as to coordinate school-wide social events and other programs.

Composition of the Board

The SCorp Executive Board of Directors consists of the President, Executive Vice President, Vice President of Finance, Vice President of Technology, Vice President of Full-Time Students, Vice President of Part-Time Students, Vice President of Events, the University Senator and the First-Year Vice Presidents for both Full and Part-time students. In addition, there are Assistant Vice-Presidents of Marketing, Events and Finance.

Responsibilities of the Board
All Board members share the following responsibilities in addition to their own individual functions:
  • Uphold the Student Corporation’s charter
  • Attend regular Board of Directors meetings and general meetings of student leaders
  • Work closely with all members of the Student Corporation, the Dean’s Office, administrative staff, faculty members and the general student body
  • Dedicate themselves to improving all aspects of the Stern experience for MBA students
  • Affirm committee appointments and appoint additional officers
  • Approve the Student Corporation budget and allocation of funds to MBA clubs
Executive Board of Directors Meetings
The Executive Board of Directors of SCorp typically meets weekly to discuss various projects and issues. Matters relating to SCorp’s budget and various events or projects are discussed at these Board Meetings.
