The NYU Stern Board Fellows Program matches top Stern MBA candidates with the boards of New York City-based nonprofit organizations for nine month fellowships. Fellows act as non-voting board members, serve on committees and complete a strategic governance project for the board.
Another Way To Get Involved With Nonprofit Organizations
Stern administrators select a small number of talented second-year MBA students to participate in the Board Fellows Program. Potential Fellows complete a written application and participate in a rigorous interview process with Stern administrators and student leaders. Fellows are evaluated based on their skills, enthusiasm, commitment, professionalism and initiative. Once accepted to the program, a team of two Fellows will be matched with our partner boards through a mutual selection process based on student interests and the needs of the organizations.
Program Coordination and Support
Representatives from the Office of Student Engagement will serve as primary contacts for providing feedback, requesting assistance and addressing issues that may arise.
Students also will be supported throughout their Fellowships with board and project training led by the program’s strategic advisor who is an expert in board service and governance. Throughout the engagement, Board Fellows will have access to an industry expert who will offer strategic guidance and consulting frameworks. In addition, students will benefit from facilitated peer learning sessions.
