NYU Stern Executive MBA student Vaughn McKoy embraces transitions. He started in law, working as a trial lawyer, and as a federal and state prosecutor, handling fraud and white-collar crime cases. After serving as director of the division of criminal justice for the state of New Jersey, and being exposed to management, Vaughn wanted to transition from the courtroom to the boardroom. Now a director of customer service and community development for Public Service Electric & Gas Company, he is pursuing his MBA to enhance his strategic skills and to develop his network of contacts in the business arena.

“I knew that I wanted to marry what I knew about law with business. In order to do that, I needed to understand the language of business,” says Vaughn. Months into his first year, Vaughn already sees how the business acumen and network of friends and future colleagues he is gaining at Stern will help open doors in the future. “In the long-term, I’m aiming to join the ranks of C-suite executives in the Fortune 500, and I know that the professional skills and the network of seasoned executives, which I’ve developed in the Executive MBA program, will be key factors in my success.”
