Get an early start on your MBA through Summer Start
For Summer Start, MBA Admissions handpicks a small group of students whose communication skills and leadership potential are key strengths and who would benefit from an early start. Some have been out of school longer than the average student. Others have proven track records, but in less traditional professions. Others will benefit from extra academic programming prior to the fall. What the students have in common is a demonstrated capacity for and commitment to leadership, and a passion for Stern.
The program begins the second week of July and concludes just before LAUNCH orientation in August.

"Summer Start was an incredible experience. Having a head start to allow myself to acclimate to Stern's academic and career resources was invaluable to my business school experience. The friendships that I forged while in the program will last a lifetime."
Consideration for Summer StartAll Full-time applicants will be considered for Summer Start. You cannot apply directly to the Summer Start program. Selection for Summer Start is at the sole discretion of the Admissions Committee on a space-available basis.
We understand that not every applicant will be able to participate or be interested in Summer Start. Therefore, every student who is contacted about Summer Start will have the opportunity to express his/her interest level in the program.
For students admitted to Summer Start, participation is mandatory. It is an academic program, and all of our academic programs require attendance and participation.
Program ContentStudents will participate in a six-week, full-time summer term during which they earn six credits and participate in a variety of academic, leadership and individual development activities. Students enroll in the core course Statistics & Data Analysis, as well as Management Communication and Collaboration, Conflict & Negotiation. Note that all Summer Start students take Statistics & Data Analysis as part of their summer program and may not waive this core course.
Depending on individual needs, some students will also work on quantitative skills, business writing and accounting. In addition, there are cultural and social activities to ensure that students get to know each other and New York City.
The content and structure of the Summer Start program are subject to change.
Cost and Financial AidSummer Start students are required to pay a non-refundable deposit (which includes a $2,500 program fee) to reserve a place in the program. Because they pay for six credits for the summer term, fall tuition is reduced for Summer Start students. This ensures that they pay only $2,500 more for the entire 60-credit MBA than those who began in the fall.
See Financial Aid for more information. Costs for the Summer Start program are subject to change.
