Policies
Please carefully review all of our MBA Admissions policies prior to submitting your application.
Applying to Other NYU Stern MBA Programs
You may apply to only one NYU Stern MBA program per start term (Full-time, Langone Part-time, Executive or TRIUM Executive). If not admitted, you can apply to any NYU Stern MBA program for any subsequent start term.
Transferring Credits
Stern does not accept transfer credits.
Applying Prior to Completing your Undergraduate Degree
If you submit your application prior to the conferral of your bachelor's degree or equivalent, we will accept and evaluate your application. This will not delay the evaluation of your application. If an offer of admission is made, it will be contingent upon the conferral of your degree prior to enrollment. An undergraduate degree is required to enroll in the MBA program.
MBA Degrees Earned from Other Institutions
If you earned an MBA from another college or university within the U.S., you are not eligible for admission to NYU Stern. International MBAs are eligible to apply.
Dual Degree Programs
Part-time students cannot pursue dual degree programs.
Change of Contact Information
It is the applicant’s responsibility to update NYU Stern immediately with any new contact information. It is also the applicant’s responsibility to verify that any changes made to his or her contact information are properly reflected on the Application Status Check Website.
Changes to your contact information will be accepted only through the Application Status Check Website. Failure to update your contact information may result in you missing key information, which could jeopardize your admission and/or place in the class.
NYU Stern is not responsible for any technological issues (including email filters, etc.) that prevent applicants from receiving our communications.
Application Fee
The application fee is non-refundable and may not be used toward future applications to NYU Stern or other NYU programs. Application fee waivers are rarely granted. Fee waivers should be requested only in cases of extreme financial hardship, and requests must be sent in writing to admchair@stern.nyu.edu.
Visa Eligibility
The NYU Stern Langone Part-time MBA program is considered part-time study. Part-time study does not provide student visa eligibility. Applicants are responsible for determining whether they have the necessary visa status to apply and participate in the duration of the Langone Part-time MBA program. Without an appropriate visa status, applications to the program may be considered ineligible for review by the Admissions Committee.
Submitting a Paper Application
Approval is required to submit a paper application. If you are unable to apply online, please send an email to sternmba@stern.nyu.edu to explain the circumstances and request approval.
Submitting a Paper Recommendation
Approval is required for your recommender to submit a paper recommendation. If your recommender is unable to submit a recommendation online, please send an email to sternmba@stern.nyu.edu to explain the circumstances and request approval.
Statement of Certification
Before submitting an application, all applicants are required to read and electronically sign the Statement of Certification. NYU Stern reserves the right to contact appropriate sources to ensure the accuracy of all the information you have provided. NYU Stern validates the accuracy of application information with the appropriate sources. You must promptly inform NYU Stern if any information changes. NYU Stern may revoke your admission if we learn that you have misrepresented and/or omitted information during or after the admissions process, or that you have engaged in behavior showing a serious lack of judgment or integrity prior to or after admission. If your admission is revoked, you will not be eligible to re-apply to any NYU Stern MBA program.
Any items submitted to NYU Stern in conjunction with your application become the sole property of NYU Stern and will not be returned, duplicated, or transferred.
Deferred Admission/Leave of Absence
NYU Stern does not grant admission deferrals. If you are admitted and decide not to enroll, you may re-apply for a future term. Leaves of absence are not granted to students who find that they cannot begin the program in the semester for which they were admitted or who cannot successfully complete one course in that first semester (obtaining a grade of D or better).
Verification Process
NYU Stern has retained Kroll Background America to verify the information included in the applications of all admitted MBA applicants who plan to enroll at NYU Stern. We do this to deter fraudulent applications and preserve the integrity of the NYU Stern community. If you are admitted, you will be provided with instructions on how to initiate the verification process. You will be responsible for the fee for this service.
Changing Status Prior to Decision or Enrollment: Part-time to Full-time
You should apply for the program (Full-time or Langone Part-time) in which you want to enroll. However, if circumstances require you to request a change in status either before receiving a decision or after being admitted and prior to enrolling, please submit a written request to admchair@stern.nyu.edu. To request a change in status, you are required to withdraw your original application and, if already admitted, forfeit your place in the Langone Part-time class. You will then need to submit a new application to the Full-time program. Your Full-time application will be evaluated along with the rest of the Full-time applicant pool, and there is no guarantee of admission. The Admissions Committee reserves the right to release a decision at any time during the application process. Any items submitted to NYU Stern become the sole property of NYU Stern and will not be returned, duplicated or transferred.
Changing Status after Enrollment: Part-time to Full-time
NYU Stern MBA Academic Affairs does not permit students to switch to the Full-time MBA program once they are enrolled in the Langone Part-time MBA program. Please carefully consider which program is best suited to your goals prior to applying.
Switching Between Langone Program Locations or Options
After one year in the Langone Part-time MBA program option in which you enrolled, you may contact MBA Academic Affairs to request to switch to another program option. Switching program options is on a space-available basis.
Additional Submissions by Waitlisted Applicants
The Admissions Committee reserves the right to make final decisions on waitlisted applications prior to receiving additional information. Materials received after a final decision will not affect that decision.
Mandatory Langone Orientation
Attendance is required at the Langone Orientation Weekend. Orientation is held from 9 AM-6 PM on both Saturday and Sunday. Please check your admission letter for exact dates.
Policy Statement
New York University is committed to a policy of equal treatment and opportunity in every aspect of its relations with its faculty, students and staff members without regard to age, citizenship status, color, disability, marital or parental status, national origin, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation or any other legally protected status.
Notice of Right to Change Information at Any Time
The policies, requirements, course offerings, schedules, activities, tuition, fees and calendar of the School and its departments and programs set forth on this website are subject to change without notice at any time at the sole discretion of the administration. Such changes may be of any nature, including, but not limited to, the elimination of the School, programs, classes or activities; the relocation or modification of the content of any of the aforementioned; and the cancellation of scheduled classes or other academic activities. Payment of tuition or attendance at any classes shall constitute a student’s acceptance of the administration’s rights set forth in this paragraph.
