"Stern has given me unparalleled opportunities to learn about business and society throughout the world as well as the importance of giving back to communities both locally and abroad," says Stern junior Earl Roach who is a dedicated leader of Stern's organization SEAD (Student Enrichment for Academic Development)
To that end, Earl serves as the club’s new secretary and is also spearheading efforts to revamp SEAD’s Young Leaders Program which matches SEAD members with New York City high school students. “The YLP mentorship is extremely important to me because it allows high schoolers to interact with college students, creating a collaborative environment from which we all can learn,” Earl explains. “My work with SEAD and the Young Leaders Program is helping me cultivate valuable leadership skills and giving me practical experience organizing programs.”
In addition to his many learning experiences both in and outside the classroom, Earl has gained a global perspective through his international travels. As a recipient of the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship, which recognizes students committed to Dr. King’s ideals of community good and social justice, Earl has explored the world doing volunteer work in Salvador, Brazil and Lima, Peru. He also plans to participate in Stern’s India Leadership Exchange program and study abroad in Florence in the fall.
Earl, who is majoring in Management with a specialization in Entertainment, Media and Technology, intends to merge his multifaceted Stern education, service experience and global study to launch his own production company in the future. “Stern has given me unparalleled opportunities to learn about business and society throughout the world as well as the importance of giving back to communities both locally and abroad.”
