Stern junior Alyssa de Ubl has put her time management and multitasking skills to work as an intern at an investment bank, vice-president of two Stern clubs, and Co-Founder and COO of Natan.tv, a millennial-focused social media blog and consulting company.

Annie Qian (BS '14)

Stern freshman Annie Qian, who most recently appeared on an episode of CBS’s Blue Bloods and plays the recurring role of Kelly on TBS’s Are We There Yet?, realized she also wanted to study the business side of the industry she loves.

As founder of the personal finance website HelpSaveMyDollars.com, Stern freshman Scott Gamm promotes financial literacy among young people by offering easy-to-understand monetary information, advice, and resources.

Stern senior Benjamin Funk has been shaping his global viewpoint through his studies at Stern, his summer internship at Deloitte Consulting and his various trips abroad.

Andrea Baptista (BS '11)

“I always make time for things that inspire me,” says alumnus Andrea Baptista (BS Jan ’11), whose time at Stern kindled an enduring interest in social awareness. “The Social Impact core encouraged me to think about the ways businesses and individuals can better society and solidified my commitment to social responsibility.”

Tommy Head (BS '11)

“Developing new business concepts has always been a passion of mine,” reveals recent Stern graduate, philanthropist, actor and author Tommy Head. “It’s one of the reasons I chose to study at Stern. I’m constantly thinking up business ideas, often inspired by my personal experiences.” One such life-changing experience – being evaluated for childhood leukemia – was the impetus for founding his non-profit organization Childhood Cancer Society (CCS) when Tommy was just 16.

Avi Nagaraja (BS '12)

“Global travel has been an essential part of my education,” expresses Stern senior Avi Nagaraja. “Visiting different countries and interacting with people who have varied world views has helped me learn to communicate effectively with others and given me a better understanding of the global interconnections of business.”

Ania Johnson (BS '14)

Stern sophomore Ania Johnson shares her experience of finding a community here at Stern. With the help of her orientation leaders and the friendships within her cohort group, Ania was able to find her niche in a new environment and join organizations such as Alpha Kappa Psi, a professional business fraternity within Stern.

Anisha Patel (BS'14)

As a new student, Anisha Patel instantly felt welcomed into the Stern community. “The cohort program gave us a chance to bond with each other right away and create new friendships. All year there were events constantly going on to keep us engaged with the School as well as our classmates,” she recalls. “Through mentorship programs like the one offered by the Professional Development Society (PDS), I was able to get advice from upperclassmen who helped guide me during my first year and encouraged me to attend events I might not otherwise have known about.”

Samson Feldman (BS'12)

Samson Feldman came to Stern with a wide range of expectations—from discovering New York City, to learning about the business of entertainment and sports, to studying abroad. Samson is now a senior, and the most striking thing about his story may be that he’s done exactly what he intended.

Anthony Cabrera (BS'12)

Anthony Cabrera has his sights set on a career in the international arena—quite possibly in the management development program of a multinational organization with training rotations in regions around the world. Of course, it helps that his Stern education has essentially been such a program.

EunJu Oh (BS/MS ’12)

Languages have always been very special to EunJu Oh. She speaks Korean, Japanese, English, and French and sometimes adds a fifth choice to the list as well— Accounting. “You know, accounting is really the language of business,” EunJu explains. “You just have to learn to see the meaning behind the numbers.”

Janshaaz Khan (BS'13)

Janshaaz—or “Shaaz” for short—spent his high school years at a tennis academy in Florida, training with some of the country’s most promising young players for four hours each day. Needless to say, moving from Sarasota to New York City and from a life of tennis to the life of a business student represented quite a transition.

Fanny Sun (BS'15)

As Fanny Sun learns more about business as a student at Stern, she’s also been able to explore the type of business career that’s right for her. When Fanny arrived freshman year, she planned to concentrate in marketing and finance. She soon decided, however, that finance was too quantitative for her. “I love the math and the data,” she explains, “but for me to really care about it, it’s got to connect with people.”

Quinn Haberman (BPE '13)

When Quinn Haberman describes discovering Stern’s BPE program, it can sound a bit like finding love at first sight—through a personal ad. “I was reading some literature from NYU,” she explains, “and I saw a snippet about this new program combining business, economic development, international politics, and study abroad. It was called Business and Political Economy, it was pretty much everything I loved, and it was unlike anything I’d seen anywhere else.”
