International Studies Program

Experience global business firsthand

For 13 years, the Barr Family International Studies Program (ISP) has explored the economic, cultural and political histories of countries. Every Stern junior pursuing a Business degree or BPE degree (beginning with BPE Class of '17) completes the one-of-a-kind course during the spring semester. ISP presents the real-world opportunities and challenges for international firms today.

This semester-long course includes a one week international trip to one of three locations. Students travel overseas together, focus on a specific industry, meet with company executives and observe a country’s culture firsthand. ISP culminates in the hallmark ISP Competition where students compete in small groups, and present a capstone assignment to classmates, professors and deans.

Recent ISP locations include:
  • Barcelona, Spain
  • Budapest, Hungary
  • Buenos Aires, Argentina
  • Santiago, Chile
  • Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
  • Singapore
ISP is made possible thanks to the generous support of Stern alumnus and Overseer Edward Barr and his wife Nancy.
