# Ariel Pakes named Distinguished Research Scientist

Professor Ariel Pakes of Harvard University renews his longstanding research collaboration with the NYU Stern Economics Department as a Distinguished Research Scientist. A leading scholar in structural empirical industrial organization, Ariel has deep roots in our department, which has been home to many of his PhD students and subsequent generations of their students. His active participation in our workshops and conferences, his collaborations with our faculty, and his engagement with our graduate students contribute enormously to the intellectual life of the department and help make Stern Economics a world leader in empirical industrial organization research.
