Counseling is available on a **single session, group, short-term**, or **urgent (same-day)** basis. For longer-term treatment, we can make [referrals](https://www.nyu.edu/students/wellbeing/clinical-services/counseling-services/counseling-options/counseling-referrals.html) to off-campus providers. Counseling can help you clarify issues, gain insight into your own motivations, and deal effectively with problems. All services are free of charge (except psychiatric medication services).

## [Psychiatry](https://www.nyu.edu/students/wellbeing/clinical-services/counseling-services/psychiatry.html) (some costs associated with select services)

Psychiatric medication services are available to all matriculated full-time and part-time students enrolled in a degree-granting program who require assessment and treatment with psychiatric medications. In all cases, psychiatric professionals at the SHC will work with you to determine the best course of treatment for you and if your care can be managed appropriately at SHC.

You know it by heart—it’s the number on the back of your NYU ID. The Wellness Exchange is your greatest mental health resource at NYU. Call the 24-hour hotline at (212) 443-9999, chat via the Wellness Exchange app anytime, [make an appointment](https://www.nyu.edu/students/wellbeing/clinical-services/counseling-services/counseling-options.html), or arrange a [same-day Urgent Counseling session](https://www.nyu.edu/students/wellbeing/clinical-services/counseling-services/counseling-options/urgent-counseling.html) to speak with a certified counselor about any day-to-day challenges or health concerns, including medical issues, stress, depression, sexual assault, anxiety, alcohol or drug dependence, and eating disorders.

## [Wellness Workshops](https://www.nyu.edu/students/wellbeing/clinical-services/counseling-services/wellness-workshops.html) (formerly known as “Toolkits”)

Wellness Workshops are designed to help you develop new skills that enhance personal, academic, and social well-being. They focus on skill acquisition and are only one to four sessions in duration.

This is a short-term, emergency resource for students facing an unexpected financial situation and who are unable to afford meals or groceries. This service will not have an impact on your financial aid.

Students with an NYU Eats dining option have access to free one-on-one nutrition counseling services through Dining Services. Meet with a registered dietician to discuss: Weight Management, Healthful Meal Planning, Diabetes, Heart Disease, High Blood Pressure, Vegan/Vegetarian Diets, Food Allergies, and intolerances.

“You’re not throwin’ away your shot!” (That Hamilton reference is super obvi, right?) You can get a free flu shot every fall—you will be notified via email when appointments are available.

Take what you need now or even take supplies for later! Free no-cost menstrual hygiene products are available to all students at varying locations across campus.

Studying away but need access to health services? NYU Global Sites offer limited on-site health resources available to you while you study away! Global sites can provide health services at varying insurance and health requirements.

## [Nutritionist ](https://www.nyu.edu/students/wellbeing/clinical-services/medical-services/nutrition.html)(some costs associated with select services)

Yes, we have one! An on-campus registered dietician is available to provide one-on-one counseling services to students with varying eating habits and concerns.

## NYU Athletic Facilities

The latest in cutting-edge sports complexes designed to feel like a private health club, the [John A. Paulson Center](https://gonyuathletics.com/sports/john-a-paulson-center), [404 Fitness](https://gonyuathletics.com/sports/404-fitness), [Brooklyn Athletic Facility](https://gonyuathletics.com/sports/brooklyn-athletic-facility), and [Paulson Center Athletics Facilities](https://gonyuathletics.com/sports/2024/1/17/paulson-center.aspx) boast access to indoor pools, premier weight rooms, state-of-the-art exercise equipment, and sports facilities. Free for all NYU students.

## [Recovery](https://www.nyu.edu/students/wellbeing/wellbeing-initiatives/substance-use/recovery.html) (via Student Health Center)

Counseling and Wellness Services (CWS) offers free, non-judgmental, and confidential assistance to NYU students who have concerns related to their use of alcohol or other drugs. Services include crisis intervention, individual psychotherapy, group counseling, medication management with an addictions psychiatrist, and referrals for treatment programs and support groups outside of CWS.

The Student Health Center Pharmacy is available to assist you with all of your prescription needs! Staffed by three Registered Pharmacists and three Certified Pharmacy Technicians who can help you with medication management, pharmaceutical counseling, drug information, and general education.

Quitting can be challenging! A no-cost confidential service, provided by Quit &amp; Win, is available to all students who are ready to live a nicotine-free lifestyle. The program provides information, coaching, and other support to help students deal with cravings, urges, withdrawal symptoms, and life without smoking or vaping.
