## <a class="ck-anchor" id="Comp">**Compensation:**</a>

- [Undergraduate Student](#UGS)
- [Graduate Student](#GS)

***\*\*Teaching Fellowship compensation is in the form of tuition remission, not direct salary. You will receive tuition remission unless:***

1. **100% of your tuition is covered by corporate sponsorship or scholarship**
2. **You have exceeded the allowed amount of tuition remission (i.e. your initial tuition bill is lower than the compensation amount of the TF position)**
3. **You are hired for a tutor position**
4. **You are not enrolled in classes during the semester of your position**

Each fellowship provides a partial tuition credit for the semester that you are employed and is credited directly to your tuition account. Please note that tuition remission is for **tuition only** and cannot include any fees or other charges that a student incurs.

The tuition credit received from fellowship positions is considered **financial aid**. If you recieve student loans, Financial Aid will reduce the amount of your loans. See an illustration of how tuition remission is applied [here](https://www.stern.nyu.edu/portal-partners/financial-aid/scholarships-fellowships/teaching-fellowships-graduate-assistantships) (*click the tab that says "Tuition Remission Illustration"*).

**Note:** If you have already paid your tuition bill for the semester you are working, the amount of the teaching fellow compensation will be applied to your tuition bill as a credit, and you will receive a reimbursement payment from the Bursar's Office.

For any questions regarding TF payments, please reach out to the Financial Aid Office.
