# MBA Students Take “Doing Business in… Asia” Course

In January, a group of MBA students traveled to Singapore for the “Doing Business in (DBi) Asia” course. Students attended lectures at the National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School on topics ranging from value-based market paradigms to corporate governance for family firms and cultural negotiations in Asia. Highlights of the trip included corporate visits with representatives from Singapore Airlines and Asia Pacific Breweries, as well as a tour of the Botanical Gardens and a soccer game with NUS MBA students.

MBA student Dulce Duran recalled, “Every major company is looking east for growth. The DBi provides a great overview of the many opportunities and challenges that foreign companies face when entering these high-growth Asian economies. This intensive course not only taught us about the many regulatory factors that affect companies, but also informed us of historical and cultural factors that still affect the current business landscape. Our studies in Singapore reinforced many of the concepts we have learned at Stern and taught us how they may (or may not) apply when doing business in Asia.” ## Read more
