I am a Stern junior studying at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology through IBEX. I have had some great experiences studying abroad in Hong Kong. First on the list (as you may have guessed): traveling to Mongolia.

After flying in to Ulaanbaatar alone, I met a group of travelers in my hostel. We set out in a Soviet-Era van for a tour of the Gobi Desert.

Two of the most striking features of the Gobi Desert are: 1. how not desert-like the Gobi really is, and 2. the herds of animals everywhere. Horses, cows, goats, camels, sheep – they are everywhere. One of the most unique relationships between man and animal can be found in Mongolia – the Mongolian people truly depend on their animals to survive so they respect them.
