# A Conversation with Sheila Bair

The NYU Stern [Center for Global Economy and Business](/node/37485) welcomed Sheila Bair, former chair of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, for a talk and Q&A session on March 2. Bair discussed the US Federal Reserve and the importance of providing a greater degree of transparency in its capital reserve requirements for banks: "Greater transparency... should bolster the [Fed’s] claims in the eyes of the public that the proposed rule will be effective in eliminating the 'too-big-to-fail' problem."
