# NYU Stern Hosts Panel Discussion on Europe’s Economic and Financial Future

On Thursday, October 11, 2012, NYU Stern co-hosted, with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland, a panel discussion on Europe’s Economic and Financial Future with Commissioner Janusz Lewandowski, Member of the European Commission, Financial Programming and Budget. Other speakers included Stern faculty: [Viral Acharya](http://www.stern.nyu.edu/faculty/bio/viral-acharya), C.V. Starr Professor of Finance, [Edward Altman](http://www.stern.nyu.edu/faculty/bio/edward-altman), Max L. Heine Professor of Finance, [Marcin Kacperczyk](http://www.stern.nyu.edu/faculty/bio/marcin-kacperczyk), Assistant Professor of Finance, and [Richard Sylla](http://www.stern.nyu.edu/faculty/bio/richard-sylla), Henry Kaufman Professor of the History of Financial Institutions and Markets and Professor of Economics.

The welcome presentations were followed by a panel discussion moderated by Stern Professor Marcin Kacperczyk (far right) and included: (from left to right): Markus Brunnermeier, Edwards S. Sanford Professor of Economics, Princeton University; Janusz Lewandowski, Member of the European Commission, Financial Planning and Budget; Stern Professor Viral Acharya; and Henryka Bochniarz, President of the Confederation of Polish Employers.
