# In an in-depth interview, Lord Mervyn King offers his outlook on the future of the British economy

Excerpt from [Bloomberg](https://www.bloomberg.com/news/audio/2019-07-22/the-cable-mervyn-king-former-boe-governor-podcast) -- "I think there are two different aspects to the question of no-deal. One is the likely longer run impact on the UK economy, which I think has been overplayed, considerably overplayed. No one really knows, but there's an awful lot of bogus pontification \[or quantification?\] going into the estimates of how bad it would be. The second issue, however, is the shorter term one: whether the immediate consequences can be managed. And that depends entirely on how much preparation has gone into it."
