# Professor Nicholas Economides discusses the possible ramifications of Greece exiting the eurozone

'Greece would become a small country in the Middle East,' [Economides](http://www.stern.nyu.edu/faculty/bio/nicholas-economides) said. 'Instead of being in the center of Europe, it would be subject to the larger powers of the Middle East, in particular its biggest neighbor Turkey, which would be a national disaster.'"
