# Professor Roy Smith comments on China's increasing access to its banking industry

Excerpt from [Bloomberg](https://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2017-01-04/china-opening-bank-industry-as-bond-tables-show-dominance-gained) -- "'The Chinese financial services markets will not be easy to penetrate,' said [Roy Smith](http://www.stern.nyu.edu/faculty/bio/roy-smith), professor of finance at New York University’s Stern School of Business. 'Chinese connections, relationships, etc. will be hard to replace, plus there may be a resistance to using foreign banks except where they are expected to have a role, and even then growing capabilities of Chinese banks will enable them to increase market share.'"
