Elizabeth Seeley Howard joined the faculty of New York University Stern School of Business in July 2005. She currently teaches in the MBA program and in the Undergraduate College. Professor Howard teaches “Negotiation and Consensus Building” and “Management and Organizations” at the undergraduate level and “Collaboration, Conflict, and Negotiation” to MBA students.

Professor Howard's primary research focus is on negotiations, with an emphasis on the interaction between a person's identity and the social context. She examines how the views that people hold of themselves (e.g., a view of oneself as powerful or a view of oneself as connected to others) impact their negotiated outcomes and their satisfaction with work groups. Recent research explores the role of advice seeking in negotiations (e.g., how advice may influence our performance).

Professor Howard earned a B.A. in History from Middlebury College and a Ph.D. in Social Psychology from Northwestern University. Before joining NYU Stern, Professor Howard spent two years as a Mellon Fellow at Amherst College.
