John Bonney joined New York University Stern School of Business as an Assistant Professor of Finance in July 2026.

Bonney’s research lies at the intersection of entrepreneurship, labor economics, and corporate finance. His work examines how entrepreneurs’ access to human and financial capital shapes the entry, growth, and performance of new firms. His research combines large administrative datasets with modern tools for causal inference.

He received his PhD and MA in Economics from Stanford University and his BS in Economics from Brigham Young University.
