The [Norwegian Finance Initiative](https://www.nbim.no/en/investments/research/the-norwegian-finance-initiative-nfi/) (NFI) has awarded **[The Volatility Institute](http://www.stern.nyu.edu/experience-stern/about/departments-centers-initiatives/centers-of-research/volatility-institute)** a two-year grant, totaling more than $300,000, to support its work on the financial economics of climate change, spearheaded by Professor and Nobel Laureate **[Robert Engle](http://www.stern.nyu.edu/faculty/bio/robert-engle)** and Professor **[Johannes Stroebel](http://www.stern.nyu.edu/faculty/bio/johannes-stroebel)**. On May 23, Professors **[Thomas Cooley](http://www.stern.nyu.edu/faculty/bio/johannes-stroebel)**, **[Thomas Philippon](http://www.stern.nyu.edu/faculty/bio/thomas-philippon)**, **[Philipp Schnabl](http://www.stern.nyu.edu/faculty/bio/philipp-schnabl)**, **[Kim Schoenholtz](http://www.stern.nyu.edu/faculty/bio/kim-schoenholtz)**, **[Laura Veldkamp](http://www.stern.nyu.edu/faculty/bio/laura-veldkamp)**, **[Ingo Walter](http://www.stern.nyu.edu/faculty/bio/ingo-walter)** and **[Lawrence White](http://www.stern.nyu.edu/faculty/bio/lawrence-white)**, along with 115 other academics, submitted a letter to the Chairs and ranking members of the House Financial Services and Judiciary Committees and the Senate Banking and Judiciary Committees that [opposes the repeal of the Orderly Liquidation Authority](http://www.law.columbia.edu/sites/default/files/microsites/law-economics-studies/scholars_letter_on_ola_-_final_for_congress.pdf) (OLA), which was created by the Dodd-Frank Act to resolve insolvent systemic financial institutions. Professor **[Jonathan Haidt](http://www.stern.nyu.edu/faculty/bio/jonathan-haidt)** was recently honored with a [2017 Tribeca Disruptive Innovation Award](http://heterodoxacademy.org/2017/04/26/tdia/) for his role in co-founding Heterodox Academy.
