# Faculty Awards & Accolades – May/June 2016

The [Association for Psychological Science](http://www.psychologicalscience.org/) (APS) recently named Professor **[Michael North](http://www.stern.nyu.edu/faculty/bio/michael-north)** as one of its “[Rising Stars](https://www.psychologicalscience.org/rising-stars/stars.cfm),” a designation which recognizes outstanding psychological scientists in the earliest stages of their career whose innovative work has already advanced the field and signals great potential for continued contributions.

The *Journal of International Economics* (JIE) awarded Professor [**Michael Waugh**](http://www.stern.nyu.edu/faculty/bio/michael-waugh) the [2015 Bhagwati Award](http://ac.els-cdn.com/S002219961500183X/1-s2.0-S002219961500183X-main.pdf?_tid=4c4d5afa-0b0f-11e6-a5a5-00000aacb35e&acdnat=1461607281_5f0b699bf55d73c3d34d3518ffea383e), a prize given every two years for the best article published in JIE during the previous two years, for his co-authored paper, “The Elasticity of Trade: Estimates and Evidence.”

Research by Professor **[Jeanne Calderon](http://www.stern.nyu.edu/faculty/bio/jeanne-calderon)** and Scholar-in-Residence **[Gary Friedland](http://www.stern.nyu.edu/experience-stern/about/departments-centers-initiatives/academic-departments/business-society-program/faculty-staff/scholarinresidence/scholarinresidence)** was cited in a [Congressional Report](https://www.fas.org/sgp/crs/homesec/R44475.pdf) on the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Visa, a report developed for members of Congress as they consider re-authorization of this program. ###  Past Faculty Awards & Accolades
