# Google Faculty Research Award Granted to Professor Arun Sundararajan for Work on Sharing Economy

Professor [Arun Sundararajan](http://www.stern.nyu.edu/faculty/bio/arun-sundararajan), professor of [Information, Operations and Management Sciences](/node/43671), recently received a Google Faculty Research Award to support his research on trust in the sharing economy. The Google Faculty Research Award program is a biannual recognition of ongoing research in computer science and related topics, including systems, machine perception, structured data, robotics and mobile. This round, Google received 808 proposals, an increase of 12% over last round, covering 55 countries on 6 continents and is funding 122 projects.

This award will also provide Professor Sundararajan with the opportunity to liaise with Hal Varian, Google’s chief economist, as his research develops.
