# Prof. Rosa Abrantes-Metz on Libor rates and conflicts of interest

Excerpt from [Bloomberg](http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-04-16/gensler-wheatley-seek-to-eliminate-conflicts-in-benchmark-rates.html) -- “'There are hundreds of benchmarks with different features, but a common issue with some of the indices not based on actual transactions is the potential conflict of interest by the administrator who represents the market players and submitters themselves,' said [Rosa Abrantes-Metz](http://www.stern.nyu.edu/faculty/bio/Romy), an economist with New York-based consulting firm Global Economics Group Inc. and a professor at New York University’s Stern School of Business."
