# Professors Joel Steckel and Allen Adamson Discuss their New Book, "Shift Ahead," with President Emeritus John Sexton

November 27, 2017 ![](/sites/default/files/styles/246w/public/assets/images/ShiftAhead2.jpg?itok=qOW8Z6bI) Professors Joel Steckel and Allen Adamson sat down with President Emeritus John Sexton for a conversation about their new book, *Shift Ahead: How the Best Companies Stay Relevant in a Fast-Changing World*. Alumni Council Member Alan Gallo, BS '87, MBA '90, kicked off the evening with introductory remarks. Prof. Steckel and Adamson explored why some companies are better at evolving with the times than others, citing companies like National Geographic, Blackberry, and Kodak as success stories and cautionary tales. After the discussion and Q&A, guests enjoyed a reception and book signing with the authors.
