2016-2017

Diversity Zone Training for Staff and Faculty
This fall, faculty and staff continued to participate in diversity training, which provided information on the systems of power, privilege, and oppression at work in our society. It also provided them with tools to practice better allyship in their roles.

Bias Response Line
All of our bathrooms were outfitted with information on the NYU Bias Response Line. The line is used to report an experience of bias, discrimination, or harassment.

D&I Touchpoints during Launch
This year the student government designed a student wide pact for the full time and part time student bodies.  In it, leadership outlined norms and expectations around equity, diversity, and inclusion at Stern. In addition, using our “Tales in Possible” presentation, four of our outstanding students shared stories relating to their identities.

Launch Captain Training
In conjunction with our affinity clubs and the diversity committee, Stern planned a week-long series of events for Ally Week, including an Unconscious Bias Discussion and Lunch Circles discussing topics about Allyship.

Benchmarking
In the Office of Student Engagement, a number of our MBA graduate fellows have been focused on benchmarking diversity and Inclusion efforts at Stern against other NYU schools and other top business schools. The goal is to define best practices around positioning ourselves to prospective students, student structure, class offerings, and more.

Administration Working Group
After conducting focus groups with student leaders from our affinity groups, representatives from a number of administrative offices determined priorities around D&I at Stern.


2015-2016

Partnering with Corporate Sponsors for Ally Week
In conjunction with our affinity clubs and the diversity committee, Stern planned a week-long series of events for Ally Week, including an Unconscious Bias Discussion and Lunch Circles discussing topics about Allyship.

Affinity Weeks
In addition to Ally Week, the Military Veterans Club and the Stern Women in Business Club institutionalized Veteran’s and Women’s week, respectively. The purpose of the weeks was to highlight important initiatives and educate students on certain issues these communities face.


2014-2015

Leadership on Student Government

In an effort to highlight diversity and inclusion initiatives in the student body, OSE worked with SGov to establish a Chair of the Diversity Committee on Stern’s Full time Student Government (SGov). This committee is tasked with spearheading student driven programming like the Real Meals. This team also spearheaded surveying our student population about the climate of Stern.

Diversity and Inclusion Training for New Students
The NYU Stern Graduate College conducted its first ever mandatory diversity and inclusion training for all MBA1s conducted by CSW Global and MBA2 leadership. The program facilitated an important dialogue on identity, diversity, and inclusion, and highlighted the importance of these values in our community and the relevance to business.

Expanding Ally Week
This year Ally Week expanding to include all of our affinity groups. The group worked closely with the Office of Student Engagement to build a more inclusive environment across the student body.

Benchmarking  
The group began the D&I benchmarking process against other schools at NYU and at other top business schools to determine diversity best practices.

Highlighting National Events
The group also started working with the diversity committee, and in response to national events (i.e., Eric Gardner), planned a student led discussion around the experience of students of color at Stern.

Focusing on Women’s Efforts
Planned an event around the PBS documentary, MAKERS: Women who Make America followed by a panel of four senior, female professionals.
