Biography and Publications
PHILIP SCHOFIELD is Professor of the History of Legal and Political Thought in the Faculty of Laws and Director of the Bentham Project at the University College London.

He is General Editor of the new authoritative edition of The Collected Works of Jeremy Bentham, and has edited or co-edited eight volumes in the series. He has published Utility and Democracy: the political thought of Jeremy Bentham, Oxford University Press (2006), winner of the WJM Mackenzie Book Prize awarded by the Political Studies Association, and Bentham: A Guide for the Perplexed, Continuum (2009).
