Information Systems

Major or Concentrate in Information Systems

Students may also substitute computer science electives, with the permission of the undergraduate faculty adviser. Juniors and seniors may also register for selected MBA courses with the permission of the faculty adviser.

Information Systems Program Requirements (12 units)

To complete the finance area of study, students must complete the following courses in addition to Information Technology in Business and Society (INFO-UB 1):

Students who want to augment another major/concentration may choose to have the Information Systems Area of Study. An information systems area of study requires 9 units of Stern information systems electives selected from the courses listed for that area of study. Typically, at least one of the courses is required for the area of study, and students cannot complete more than one. The areas of study and the courses toward the major/concentration are listed below.

This area of study is designed for students who are interested in the implementation and implications of enterprise-wide systems and tools for personal productivity. The courses are especially useful for students who wish to enter a career in consulting.

Web-Based Systems

This area of study is designed for students who want a deeper understanding of Internet technologies. The Internet has become the standard method of delivering content to both internal and external users, as well as the basis for new standards for interfacing between business processes. This area includes courses that cover both development techniques for Web-based systems as well as business applications.
