William R. Berkley Scholarship Program
Supporting Exceptional College Seniors
The School will select a few Berkley Scholars each year based on the combination of stellar academic performance and exceptional potential to contribute to business and society. The first Berkley Scholars will enroll in Stern's Full-time MBA program in Fall 2014.
To be considered for the scholarship, interested college seniors must:
- Be graduating between December 1, 2013 and June 30, 2014, just prior to the Full-time MBA Fall 2014 semester
- Submit a Full-time MBA application to NYU Stern during their senior year by any of the Stern application deadlines
Candidates applying for The William R. Berkley Scholarship Program are not eligible to apply to any NYU dual degree or through The Consortium for Graduate Study in Management. They also are not eligible for the Summer Start program.
About the Scholarship and its FounderThe scholarship program is named in honor of successful entrepreneur William R. Berkley (BS 1966), Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the W.R. Berkley Company, Chairman of the NYU Stern Board of Overseers, and Vice Chairman of the NYU Board of Trustees, who donated $10 million to create the program.
Immediately after graduating from NYU with a Bachelor of Science in 1966, Mr. Berkley pursued his MBA at Harvard. Through this scholarship program, he aspires to create opportunities for talented seniors who want to pursue a similar path. “At 22 years old, I had big ideas and I was incredibly eager to get started. I knew the tools of an MBA would be essential, and I had no time to lose,” says Berkley. “I had the rare opportunity to pursue my passion at a young age, and we want to bring to Stern the brightest students in the world who are ready to do the same.”
