Welcome

I am honored to be leading the Stern Undergraduate College at such a pivotal time. As the world of business adjusts to a new reality, the Stern School is educating business leaders who are transforming their knowledge into real value that will benefit our global society. At the same time, New York University is expanding its global footprint to become one of the most international universities in the world. The Undergraduate College is a vital part of the NYU and Stern communities, so I take my role as Dean of the Undergraduate
College on with great enthusiasm as we begin a new chapter in our history and look to the future.

Although I’ve called NYC, NYU and Stern home for more than 20 years, I consider myself a citizen of the world. I spent the first part of my life moving around India, adapting to new communities as my family traveled with my father’s job in the Indian Navy. I later moved to the U.S. to pursue my Ph.D. and was excited to be a part of another new culture and meet new people. Today, my job takes me to all parts of the world to collaborate with fellow researchers, participate in scholarly conferences, and build relationships in our academic network. These experiences have expanded my worldview and sharpened my global sensibilities. As modern society becomes more interconnected every day, we must educate students to think with a global mind.

I also consider myself a citizen of NYU and Stern. This is where I began my career, where I established my strengths as a scholar, and where I grew as a leader. I have a deep and abiding interest in this community and am dedicated to its success. As a proud NYU parent, I understand the complexities of the college experience and the life-shaping importance of the undergraduate years. In this way, NYU Stern is more than a school, it is a vibrant and diverse learning community where the sky is the limit.

The efforts of the visionary deans who came before me established Stern as one of the best undergraduate business programs in the world. I am committed to upholding this tradition of academic excellence and innovation, and look forward to working with this great community of students, alumni and faculty to attain new heights. I have no doubt that together we will accomplish great things.
