DBi Courses
The course syllabi and sample schedules are listed at the bottom of this page. Take a moment to review the DBi academic policies before registering.
Here are a few quick DBi reminders!
All DBi courses are open to MBA2s and Langone Program students who have completed their Stern Core (not Langone Core) except for Professional Responsibility.
MBA1s may begin to participate in May offerings of their first year provided that they have completed their Core requirements (with the exception of Professional Responsibility) by the end of the regular Spring semester.
- Completion of all Stern Core requirements is the only pre-requisite for DBi.
- There is no elective course that is a pre-requisite for DBi.
- Global Economy is not a requirement to participate for students in the Full-Time Program.
- Guests (spouses, partners, friends) are not permitted to attend DBi offerings at any point which includes the lectures, corporate visits, cultural activities and staying in the Stern reserved accommodations.
- Flights are arranged by the individual student. MBA Academic Affairs - International Programs does not make flight arrangements.
- Students may count up to 6 credits of DBi towards their MBA degree.
- DBi policies are determined solely by MBA Academic Policy Board in conjunction with MBA Academic Affairs, not by the host school or other departments within Stern.
- All students must sign and adhere to the DBi Travel Code of Conduct & Responsibilities to participate in a DBi.
- Graduation Dates may be impacted by participation in DBi. Please review the "last semester of study" information.

The start date and the end dates of the program will not change. The schedules are tentative and will change. Corporate visits may change and the order of sessions will be updated following changes in availability of speakers and faculty.

DBIN-GB.3115.0A — DBi Spain (1.5 Credits) "Doing Business in Spain" is offered in collaboration with IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain. The course gives an overview of doing business in Spain, including an introduction to the Spanish economy, history and culture. Lectures and seminars on a wide range of functional areas draw out some differences between this region and other regions, particularly North America. DBIN-GB.3311.0A — DBi Brazil (3 Credits) "Doing Business in Brazil" provides a vision of Brazil's political, economic and social aspects to NYU Stern students in collaboration with the Escola de Administracao de Empresas de Sao Paulo. Some of the topics taught by professors in courses include: Brazilian Culture, History of Latin America, Legal Aspects of Doing Business Brazil, Economy Aspects in Latin America. DBIN-GB.3307.0A — DBi China (Hong Kong) (3 Credits) "Doing Business in China (Hong Kong) aims to give an insightful and detailed understanding of China’s business environment today and tomorrow. The course will be taught by professors from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Specific objectives are to give an overview of the China context and an understanding of what is going on (from a Western and a Chinese perspective). Additionally, students will discuss business opportunities and a framework to evaluate them, while highlighting structural problems. DBIN-GB.3110.0A — DBi Costa Rica: Sustainable Business in Latin America (1.5 Credits) "Doing Business in Costa Rica" aims to give students a focused experience on sustainable business in Latin America. Through a series of lectures with INCAE faculty and Costa Rican government officials, visits to businesses within local free trade zones, and visits to local eco-tourism destinations, students will become familiar with the role of socially, culturally, environmentally, and economically sustainable business practices within Latin American emerging markets. DBIN-GB.3111.0A — DBi Italy (Luxury Retail & Branding) (1.5 Credits) "Doing Business in Italy" aims to give participants a total experience in the high fashion and luxury industries. Students will attend class sessions with expert professors and speakers from the industry and visit luxury and fashion stores and companies. The course will be enriched by some events in the evening, and the opportunity to meet and network with Bocconi’s international students who are currently specializing in fashion and luxury. DBIN-GB.3303.0A — DBi Argentina (3 Credits) "Doing Business in Argentina" is an intensive course offered in conjunction with Universidad de Palermo, exploring global business opportunities and challenges of doing business in Argentina in the context of Latin America and the world economy. The subjects covered include Argentinean culture, economic history, economics of emerging markets, finance and entrepreneurship, and in-culture marketing strategy. Students will cover key Argentinean industries such as finance, retail, wine, entertainment and media. The course includes lectures, case studies, guest lectures, company visits and cultural events. DBIN-GB.3305.0A — DBi China (Beijing) (3 Credits) "Doing Business in China (Beijing)" at Guanghua School of Management gives an overview of doing business in China, including an introduction to Chinese economy, history and culture. Lectures and seminars on a wide range of topics allow students to understand the drivers of China‘s phenomenal economic growth over the last 25 years and future trends. Students will learn how firms conduct marketing, branding, human resources and strategic management in China, as well as how to identify business opportunities in China. Offered in conjunction with the Central European University Business School, the program will provide students with an opportunity to experience first-hand how Central European firms operate across borders within the European Union (EU). Students will focus on the rapidly changing political environment, the evolution in the regional labor market, product and service innovation, and the recent emergence of environmentalism and social responsibility.
