Ethical behavior is doing the right thing, the right way, every day.

On October 26, NYU Stern’s Center for Sustainable Business welcomed John McAvoy (MBA ’87), Chairman and CEO of Con Edison, to Stern for a conversation entitled, “How Sustainability Drives Success at Con Edison”.

The discussion, which was moderated by Professor Tensie Whelan, focused on the principles and practices of sustainable business demonstrated by Con Edison as it works to keep New York City’s energy company strong, profitable and poised for future growth. McAvoy, who joined the company in 1980, spoke about the changing energy industry, highlighting new innovations in solar technology, natural gas and electric vehicles.

“Ethical behavior is doing the right thing, the right way, every day,” said McAvoy. “We work hard to enhance the fabric of the communities that we serve and work in.”

Following the discussion, McAvoy fielded questions from the audience.
