About Rachel S. Kowal

Rachel Kowal joined the Stern faculty in 1988 and is a Clinical Professor of Business Law at NYU Stern School of Business. Rachel teaches courses on law, business and society; professional responsibility and leadership, social entrepreneurship, sustainability and consulting. Rachel has designed and taught several experiential learning courses, and has led her students - undergraduate, MBA and executive program participants on experiential learning trips to Ghana, Costa Rica, Bangladesh, India and Spain.

Rachel has served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Stern undergraduate College.

Rachel has served as Associate Director of the Business & Society Program since its inception in 2008

Rachel is an attorney who earned her J.D. from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. She is a member of the New York Bar and the Connecticut Bar.

As an attorney, she practiced tax and bankruptcy law with the Internal Revenue Service and the U.S. Attorney’s Office. She has a B.A. in history from Cornell University.
