Course Registration Guidelines

The Stern IBEX Team manually registers all visiting students for their courses. Course listings for the fall semester are available by mid-March. The deadline to submit fall course selections is the beginning of April. Course listings for the spring semester are available by mid-October. The deadline to submit spring course selections is the beginning of November. You should do your research carefully before submitting your course preferences to the IBEX team. While we can try to make adjustments to your schedule after the initial registration period, it becomes increasingly difficult since courses tend to fill up quickly and options become much more limited. Please note that we cannot add you to a new course outside of the Stern School of Business once classes begin.

As an exchange student, you can take a wide array of courses. However, you cannot register for more than two finance classes or two economics courses (see note below) or any graduate level (MBA) courses, and may only take one non-Stern (i.e. non-business) class. This non-business class can be taken from the College of Arts and Science (CAS). Exceptions to the one non-Stern class rule will only be made for Economics classes. Our Economics courses are taught between Stern and the College of Arts and Science (CAS), and you may take a maximum of two Economics classes while on exchange. Your Economics classes can either be both at Stern, both at CAS or one from Stern and one from CAS. If you select two Economics classes from CAS, the remainder of your courses must be taken at Stern.

You can use the Albert Course Search to view course offerings by semester. Course descriptions are available in the Stern Undergraduate Bulletin, the Stern Course Index, and the College of Arts and Science (CAS) Bulletin
