Strategy with a Social Purpose

Create value within New York City mission-driven organizations 

Strategy with a Social Purpose enables teams of students to complete a full strategic analysis of mission-driven organizations. In addition to providing recommendations, students work with sponsor organizations on a strategic implementation plan. This course gives students the real-world opportunity of learning the similarities and differences in applying strategy to social-mission-based organizations‚Äč

Past projects include: 
  • HousingWorks (resales used clothing to raise money for HIV/AIDS programs)
  • Women Rising (helps women who are victims of domestic violence and substance abuse reclaim their lives)
  • NYC Free Clinic (provides free medical services to those who need it)
  • Pan Africa CDI (provides finance education to the unbanked and underbanked of the Bronx)
  • The Apollo Theater (promotes music and cultural awareness in Harlem)-
  • Harlem RBI (provides after-school tutoring and sports programs for urban youth)
  • Shelter Chic (connects homeless pets to foster parents, and operates a pet boutique to help fund its operations)
